KNOCK ON UNPAINTED WOOD // Mute Comp Physical Theatre (DK)
First part of the trilogy on the biggest illegal economies: Sex, Weapons & Drugs.
In Knock on Unpainted Wood, the audience is led into the everyday life of a victim of sex trafficking. The performance is the first part of a trilogy on the biggest illegal economies. Hereby, Mute Comp. continues the tradition of working on heavy and complex themes – the unbearable issues, which we tend to avoid in our daily lives.
The title Knock on Unpainted Wood comes from a Polish proverb, much the same as the English expression ‘knock on wood’ – something you say when you think you may have tempted fate. All victims of sextrafficking are initially full of hope for a better future, but in the end everything they hoped for turns into a lie with horrifying consequences and a tragic ending.
With their unique physical language Mute Comp. wants to show trafficking as a cruel reality.
